Pattern Tranfers: Stencil method

When it comes to getting a pattern onto fabric, there are endless possibilities.

STENCIL METHOD (The bestest coolest most useful tool if you work it!)

For any simple shape you can trace it on thick paper, cardboard, or my favorite, craft foam (which makes an awesome stamp!) Then simply cut it out and lay it on the fabric (tape it down if it’s shifty). Trace lightly with pencil OR trace boldly with marker, or use watercolor pencil to be blended later.

Once you’ve done the work of cutting the stencil–GO FOR IT and transfer that puppy onto anything that will stand still!

Now you’re ready to begin the fun part–paint, stamp, collage, whatever you need to do to get ready for stitchy goodness!

This little guy is watercolor on muslin with some french knots, but is going to get some collage later today–stay tuned!
