still stitchin…

1 August 09
Tho I’m still reeling from my doggy’s death, I’ve been stitchin to meet deadlines (I think sometimes that auto-stitching is the best — just zone out and go…) Here’s the latest…

just a tote with a text gel transfer and some brazilian cast on and bullion of the hat (covered in french knots).  I [...]

WIST… and sad g’bye

29 July 2009
For the last few days, I’ve been sitting quietly in the den on the floor next to my old old doggy.  Bishop has been my constant companion for almost 13 years (he’s about 14 — which is ancient for a Rottweiler) But his legs failed him months ago, then his weight, now finally [...]

I have… BABIES!!!

25 July 09
On the deck…
Under the overhang…   Remember the eggys:

They’re BABIES!!!

Just overnight they hatched — they don’t even have eyes or wings  yet –
only BIG yawning HUNGRY beaks!! And man that mama wren is HUSTLING!  I know, they’re SO silly, but they really ARE the sweetest ugliest things!
Now for some stitch business–
I’ve been working tote [...]

And who should appear…

23 July 09
…the Mandrake me dears, snug in the Campanella Gallery til August 21!!!  Witness, Kansas City Star Preview p.35 — all (un)dressed up and ready for the show!
TAH DAH!!

Incidentally– thanks Emma, Alison, Rachel and all who have inquired about tours — my answer: YESYESYESYES!!!!  I’d love to hostess a personal tour! Contact me by [...]

Scans of WIST…

22 July 09
In order to justify that I WASTED the morning on the blogs, I did some scanning for YOU:
This is the leggy brooch center on copper (woven picot leaves, purple bullion center, wine Brazilian cast on petals). I really like how these are turning out…
and this:
is the tote bag balloon bouquet (blue layered detached [...]

WIST… wrens… brooches… BUSY!

22 July 09
*WHEW*!!! What a day!  WIST: what I stitched today (yesterday)-
(l to r) det chain stitch, brazilian cast on, french knot Balloons on a denim bag — I have a commission to do 12 of these and knocked out 4 yesterday

I’ll get a good scan when they’re all done– funny, balloons on tote bags [...]

WIST: a gnarly mess!

20 July 09

WIST: what I stitched today: So, I had high hopes for the dimensional brooches on copper today, but it all went horribly awry — thus confirming that I hate stitching with silk floss!! It’s slippery and slickery and just dreadful — and it tangles in ways I can’t even imagine! I ripped out [...]

WIST & the opening’s dish…

19 July 09  WIST: what I stitched today…
fuzzy photo, but it’s a purple bullions center (13 wraps), and wine colored Brazilian cast-ons around it…. on COPPER!!  (I’ll scan it when finished). I intend to make a dozen centers (this is about the size of a quarter) and use them for brooch assemblages. The copper is [...]

Fasten your thimbles, it’s going to be an ARTY night… & Stitchbomb!!

17 July 09 9am
The show is up, the flyers and posters are shouting COME SEE,  the guests have committed… so now, WE PARTY!
And… STITCHBOMB!!! Florilegium Needlearts
As I ran around yesterday for cups, napkins, blah blah, I stopped in to a local shop which I have stupidly and consistently neglected! Right here in Parkville, not 10 [...]

more goodies… WIST… and a story…

15 July 09
So the problem with adding goodies to the gallery show is… how do you know when to STOP!!!  Someone stop the ideas, I want to get off!!

Notice the big blue burlap Mr. Bee? (leaning casually on a rock, legs crossed –rock and legs painted in with crayon & marker — I was mixed [...]
