Why, yes, that is a dang lot of stitches! The Root is slowly evolving into a cool beasty. So far, I’ve put in about a thousand stitches including stem, running, fly, fern, and a ton of couching, but have several thousand more to finish for the Campanella gallery show in July. Funny, but living with this [...] In keeping with my colorful hopes for spring, I’ve begun working on these little buggers for the next design sheet (available in the market Saturday 21 March). Imagine one on a picnic napkin… it would be the best lunch EVER (and maybe if you bring your own bugs, the real ones will stay away… aw [...] That’s right–I spent 2 hours for your educational pleasure and uploaded all my links to the right sidebar. I like having my links handy anyway, so now we all can use them! Over the coming months I’ll be highlighting my favorites, and adding a few, but the list is pretty comprehensive for my students and [...] I LOVE this flower, and it was one of the first I ever did way back in 2005–hard to believe I’ve only been stitchin for a few years! After reading Jane Nichols book on stumpwork *link* I want gaga over her style and started creating my own versions of favorite flowers. I have a vivid [...] So, I’ve been working on stitching paper to fill up an altered book of stitch, and have been pretty successful. I like the tension of a sheet of paper, but once you’ve pierced the page you can’t change your mind or there’s a hole left. I’m also making cut outs which I then cover with [...] What a bird! With a little watercolor pencil and a paintbrush, these Alphabirds (*link*) can be quite snazzy — I’m about to stitch this one up for a messenger bag (I’ll give it a clear gel medium wash before stitching to make the paint waterproof). And then I’m thinking about the Zoo again — I [...] Having 2 ducklings of my own, it was only a matter of time before I unveiled the first in the Kidstitch line: Alphabirds!! We had a blast coming up with these, and have been coloring and stitching them like cray-zay! |
